What is the Gospel?

The best news you'll ever hear.

The word "Gospel" means "good news." And the Gospel of Jesus Christ is the best news in the world — the message that God loves you, forgives you, and offers you eternal life as a free gift.

The Problem

We're Separated from God

The Bible teaches that God created us to live in relationship with Him. But something went wrong. We chose to go our own way, to live life on our terms instead of God's. The Bible calls this sin.

Sin isn't just doing "bad things" — it's a fundamental brokenness in our relationship with God. We've all experienced it: the guilt of knowing we've done wrong, the sense that something is missing, the awareness that we fall short of who we want to be.

This separation from God is serious. We cannot fix it ourselves, no matter how hard we try to be "good enough." Left on our own, we are spiritually lost and helpless.

"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."

— Romans 3:23

What is Sin?

Sin is not just breaking rules — it's missing the mark of God's perfect standard. It includes:

  • Putting ourselves before God
  • Hurting others through our words and actions
  • Failing to love as we should
  • Living as if God doesn't matter
  • The brokenness we're all born into

God's Response

God Loves You Anyway

Here's the amazing part: despite our sin and rebellion, God loves us. Not because we deserve it — we don't. God loves us because that's who He is. Love is at the very heart of God's nature.

God didn't abandon us in our brokenness. He didn't write us off as hopeless causes. Instead, He came to rescue us. He sent His own Son, Jesus Christ, into the world to do what we could never do for ourselves.

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."

— John 3:16

Grace

Grace means "undeserved love." God doesn't love us because we're good — He loves us because He is good. His love comes first, before anything we do.

The Solution

Jesus Changed Everything

Jesus Christ, God's Son, lived a perfect life. Then He died on the cross, taking the punishment we deserved for our sins. Three days later, He rose from the dead, conquering sin and death forever.

Through Jesus, the wall between us and God is torn down. Through Jesus, we are forgiven. Through Jesus, we have hope.

Your Response

Receiving the Gift

Salvation is a free gift. You can't earn it by being good enough. You simply receive it by faith — by trusting in Jesus.

What Does Faith Mean?

Faith is simply trusting in Jesus — believing that He died for your sins and rose again, and relying on Him (not yourself) for salvation.

It's not about how strong your faith is or how much you understand. Faith is like a hand that receives a gift. The gift does all the work — faith simply accepts it.

"For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith — and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God — not by works, so that no one can boast."

— Ephesians 2:8-9
